Mayor Nutter Says, ‘Give Me 36′
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Mayor Nutter made the rounds and lent a helping hand in several neighborhoods as Philadelphia spent Monday digging out. He also made it a point to remind residents of the city’s new shoveling law.
On the 2100 block of South 21st Street, the mayor got some exercise using the lexicon of new language in the city code.
“Give me 36,” the mayor said, “We’re asking folks to clear a 36-inch wide path, three feet wide, on their sidewalks so people can stay on the sidewalk and not be out on the street.”
Youngsters across the city, including Darren Shelton, had shovels in hand and were trying to ‘Give a 36′ and make a few extra bucks. “So far, we got some ‘no thank you’s,’” Shelton said, “That’s ok, we’re still working.”
