Running back swap: Eagles deal Mike Bell to Browns for Jerome Harrison
The Philadelphia Eagles and Cleveland Browns swapped a pair of tailbacks Wednesday, perhaps hoping a change of scenery could spark two players who thrived in 2009 but have done little this year.
The Eagles pick up Jerome Harrison, who rushed for 561 yards in the final three weeks of 2009 (including a 286-yard day at Kansas City), but was displaced this season by Peyton Hillis. Harrison has 91 yards on 31 carries in 2010.
In return, the Browns receive Mike Bell, who churned out 654 yards and five TDs on the ground last year as part of an effective Saints triumvirate that included Pierre Thomas and Reggie Bush. But Bell, signed away from New Orleans in the offseason as a restricted free agent, never got going in Philly with just 28 yards over 16 rushes.
