Are San Francisco 49ers Still Alive at 0-5 After Loss to Philadelphia Eagles?
While the Philadelphia Eagles came together just fine behind Kevin Kolb, the San Francisco
Kolb passed for 253 yards while capably filling in for injured Michael Vick, and Quintin Mikell returned Smith's fumble 51 yards for a touchdown early in the fourth quarter of the Eagles' 27-24 victory over the winless 49ers on Sunday night.
Vick Drama Starts All Over Again
Would Michael Vick really try to play this weekend for the Philadelphia Eagles against his old team, the Atlanta Falcons, with a bad rib injury? We may not know the answer to that question until at least Friday, as Vick is reportedly ahead of schedule in his rehab from torn rib cartilage he suffered in the Redskins game.
Kevin Kolb played well in the Eagles 27-24 win in San Francisco.
But the Falcons are 4-1 and could put the Eagles in a playoff hole before Philadelphia starts a touch schedule that includes the Tennessee Titans in two weeks, before a bye week.
Don't expect the Eagles to rule out Vick early this week, because they don't have to.
Vick has the extra motivation of playing against the Falcons and keeping Kolb from potentially taking his old job back from Vick.
However, Vick would have to possibly play without Jason Peters on the offensive line. The Eagles' offensive line gave up four more sacks on Sunday night.
Vick had been expected to be out for as long as a month after he was hurt in the Washington game.
If that does happen, Kolb will have two more chances to show Eagles' management that he can play at a high level in the NFL.
In the 49ers game, Kolb survived his offensive line and connected on 21-of-31 passes for 253 yards for the Eagles.
The Falcons have only given up 14 points per game on defense and will present a big test for the Eagles.
The Eagles will need to place an injury status on Vick on Wednesday but have until Sunday morning to decide if he will be on the active roster.
