Dear Karen Brown, Candidate for Mayor of the City of Philadelphia, 2011
The Philadelphia Front Page News endorses Mrs. Karen Brown for the Republican Party candidate for the Mayor of Philadelphia, 2011 Primary. I, Van Stone Downing, Editor of the Philadelphia Front Page News and Columnist for the University City Review and the Weekly Press, hereby endorse Mrs. Karen Brown as the candidate for the Republican Party. The main goal and aim of Karen Brown is to work actively for the Republicans. And Karen Brown is leading one member, John Featherman, in the primary.
The Philadelphia Front Page News clearly knows about the work of Mrs. Brown. She has worked for the prevention and end of homelessness in Philadelphia. If elected to public office it will be one of her public policy priorities. As evidence of this, Brown has worked on fundamentals to prevent and end Homelessness. This is a statement in itself that demonstrates that she has good principles, and that she has an understanding of the issues to be mayor in 2011. An assembly of nonprofit organizations concerned with homelessness can attest to her volunteering.
And it is estimated that about 92 percent of the homeless women have experienced severe physical or sexual abuse at least once. And these are the people who are vulnerable to hate crimes and violence, this grim list of things can be counted. And Karen Brown has worked hard to fight for better understanding of women who become homeless.
Failure of government at many levels in Philadelphia to ensure the social and economic conditions, is solely to be blamed for mass homelessness. Each Philadelphian has the right to secure basic human needs, and that includes health care, a source of income, and a safe and permanent, affordable place to live. And the Philadelphia Front Page News opinion is that Karen Brown, as a Republican Candidate in the primary challenging John Featherman, can help Philadelphia better when it comes to rights of Philadelphians.
Homelessness is just one issue that cannot be ignored or easily managed. With that in mind, Karen Brown has joined with an assembly of nonprofit organizations concerned with homelessness, and worked for the success of a few key principals dealing with homelessness. Meanwhile John Featherman has worked for the success of very little in Philadelphia.
As a community volunteer myself, I witness how Karen Brown is working toward ensuring that supplies should be more affordable and dramatically increased for the homeless. Health care and education must be provided to all who need them in Philadelphia along with social services. Our Philadelphia citizens’ personal incomes must be sufficient so as to pay for the basic necessities of life. And lastly, discrimination against any Philadelphian must be prevented. It’s clear to this newspaper that Karen Brown will work hard to address these issues and more.
The Philadelphia Front Page News looks forward to Karen Brown winning the Republican candidate for the Mayoral Primary of 2011. She will be a better leader than John Featherman.
