Catholic Priest & Peace Activist To Make Speech In Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — A Catholic priest, internationally known as a peace activist, makes a speech on Sunday in Philadelphia not only about his long-time fight, but his newer one.

Father Roy Bourgeois has gone to prison several times in the last few decades for opposing the School of the Americas, a now renamed military academy for Latin American troops whose detractors call it a human rights abuse factory.

From his pre-priest days in Vietnam, to Bolivia and Latin America while wearing a clerical collar, he says he’s seen the dark side of US foreign policy used to keep countries and markets friendly, no matter the human cost.
