Roy Halladay To Receive 2011 Wanamaker Award
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Phillies pitcher Roy Halladay has been named the 2011 recipient of the John Wanamaker Athletic Award. Halladay will receive the award on June 28 at a ceremony at the Wanamaker Building’s Crystal Tea Room. CBS 3 Sports Director Beasley Reece will emcee the event.
The award is presented each year by the Philadelphia Sports Congress, a division of the Philadelphia Convention & Visitors Bureau, to an athlete, team or organization that excels in reflecting credit upon Philadelphia and their sport. The public participated in the nomination process and the Wanamaker Selection Committee made the final decision.
