Police: Teen Killed By Penn Police Had Jumped Bail
PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Officials say the teen shot and killed by University of Pennsylvania police following a carjacking was wanted for missing a court appearance.
Investigators identified the man killed on Penn’s campus early Sunday morning as 18-year-old Karl Sappleton.
Penn police shot and killed Sappleton after they say fired at them after crashing a stolen Cadillac on a street corner within the school’s campus. Court records say he had skipped a hearing following a May drug arrest.
