Local Non-Profit Celebrates Twenty Five Years Of Funding Education
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – A nonprofit that has helped to improve education in Philadelphia is marking its 25th anniversary this year.
For 25 years, The Philadelphia Education Fund has used money from foundations, government grants and individuals to train teachers and make college more accessible for students.
Executive Director Carol Fixman says the Fund’s work is in the classroom, and beyond, “We recognize that if schools are going to be better, the focus really needs to be on teachers and instruction. They’re key. And we also recognize that students need assistance in getting to college.”
