The Term 'Negro' on 2010 Census Form Sparks Controversy

Some people are objecting to the use of the word "Negro" on the 2010 census form.
One of the ten questions on the 2010 US census form asks for the race of each person in the household. And one of the choices is "Black, African American, or Negro."
A number of people have been complaining that the term "negro" is disrespectful and antiquated. This woman in Philadelphia's Love Park would agree:
"I feel like for us black people, and I'm going to speak for them, it's wrong. It is wrong."
Media specialist Monica Davis says the US Census Bureau has been getting complaints but it appears that, at least a decade ago, a number of Americans still identified with the term negro:
