Organization Hopes To Cover Underinsured Kids With Medical Problems
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The charitable arm of a national health care group is looking for applicants for grants to help pay for children’s medical expenses not covered by health insurance.
“We don’t limited the number of grants that we give out. We’ll consider every application that is submitted,” says Sue Schick, CEO of United Healthcare of Pennsylvania. The grants are given by the United Healthcare Children’s Foundation to families all over the US.
“They cover up to $5,000 of expenses for medical expenses that would otherwise not be covered by insurance,” Schick says, “so people tend to use them for things like physical therapy or a special feeding that a child might need, or counseling services.”
