The incident took place around 10:42 p.m., according to authorities. Police say an officer was working a detail, at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, for Officer Jesse Hartnett who was shot and wounded in the line of duty on Thursday.
Authorities say the officer was approached by a man prior to entering the PPMC. The man asked the officer for some money and claimed that he hadn’t eaten in five days. Police say the officer gave the man $5 and then entered the building.
