Mayor Michael Nutter joined community leaders and residents for the event, but was upstaged by a youngster who was among a group of children he called up to the podium to surround him as he talked about the importance of parks in the city.
On a more serious note, Michael DiBerardinis, Deputy Mayor for Environmental and Community Resources, says the park is in for more than $500,000 in upgrades.
