More than 130 volunteers packed into the 23rd Street Armory to serve guests everything from short ribs and pasta to lobster and pastries.
“It genuinely makes me cry to look and see how many people care and how many people were given the chance to do something good and stepped up to the plate, went over and above what they normally do to make somebody else happy,” said Jason Pinardo, who started the $20,ooo GoFundMe campaign on a Sunday and was halfway to his goal by the following Wednesday.
