PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — A more family-friendly Mummers’ parade is planned for Philadelphia this coming New Year’s Day.
Weather
permitting, the 114th annual Mummers’ Parade will step off at 9:30 am on January 1st.
“You can only get this in Philadelphia,” says mayor Michael Nutter,
“but it’s also the oldest continuous folk festival in the world.”
Ten thousand vibrantly dressed Mummers will strut along Broad Street,
from South Philadelphia to City Hall. There will be free
performance
zones with seating at Shunk Street, Washington Avenue, Pine Street, and Sansom Street.
