Prospects Dim For Approval Of Philly Ride-Sharing Bill Before Friday Deadline

HARRISBURG, Pa. (CBS) — It appears unlikely that state lawmakers will extend authorization for ride-share services in the city of Philadelphia before it expires on Friday. At least one of the major ride share companies says it will continue operating anyway.

The state Senate has already passed ride-sharing legislation and the ball is now with the House. But Montgomery County Republican Robert Godshall – who, as chairman of the House Consumer Affairs Committee, is a key player in crafting a compromise – said Monday the chance of extending authorization before the Friday deadline is “pretty slim.”

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — On Thursday, there were new developments in connection to the FBI raids taking part throughout Philadelphia. An official, targeted by agents, has stepped down from his powerful position.

Dr. Jim Moylan’s resignation from the zoning board came out of the blue. It comes three weeks after FBI agents swept through his home and medical office.

In a nutshell, Mayor Kenney said earlier on Thursday, that Moylan stepped aside to avoid answering reporter questions.

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Every year on 9/11, the Philadelphia Firefighters Union holds a recognition ceremony, to honor those who have gone above and beyond to save others.

Ray Vozzelli is a trustee with the Local 22 union, where this was held Sunday.

“We have to force these people to come down and take these awards,” he says. “They are very modest men and women.”

Vozzelli says the winner is nominated by their fellow union members, for outstanding service and bravery.

Wells Fargo Fined $185 Million For Improper Account Openings

NEW YORK (AP) — California and federal regulators fined Wells Fargo a combined $185 million on Thursday, alleging the bank’s employees illegally opened millions of unauthorized accounts for their customers in order to meet aggressive sales goals.

The San Francisco-based bank will pay $100 million to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, a federal agency created five years ago; $35 million to the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency and $50 million to the City and County of Los Angeles. It will also pay restitution to affected customers.

Changing The Symbolism Of The Color Black

I am Van Stone, author and syndicated columnist, and I invite people from all intercultural backgrounds to join the Van Stone Productions Foundation. My hope is that, through the media, I can teach men, women, and children the importance of joining the organization Van Stone Productions Foundation (VSP) which helps to define the color “black.” I had exactly what VSP members were looking for when I used the admired works of Dr. Seuss’, “My Many Colored Days” to come up with the “Expression of Black” in the color black.

I assign colors to moods and emotions as was Dr. Seuss’ signature. VSP brings colors (nationalities), images (crafts), and partnerships (personal gender relationships) together as one family/community. I believe that black means happy. I like to say, "The thoughts of happy men generate good company for positive people."

"Unfortunately the color of black has been blamed for many tragedies. Such as dressing in black during school shootings, being black-listed or black-balled, evil, etc.," I'd also say, "The color black has been synonymous with many negative things and subconsciously the color black creates negative thoughts for many people.

I desire that the color black be re-designed and created in a whole new expression, just like green is for earth day, blue is for jean day, silver is for a 25th anniversary.

I have created a PEACE DAY for the wearing of the color black to stop unduly influencing people with the symbolism of the color black having negative connotations. On PEACE DAYS, all days are great for reading, honoring grandparents, doing any type of planting, telling close friends that you are glad to have them as a real friend, and hanging out in your library. PEACE DAYS are also for conversing about your favorite poems, realistic fiction, monsters, fantasy, fairy tales, mascots, or superheroes who may represent the color black. Then it would be good to draw the shape of a black rose or heart.
