Reverend, Mary A. Jones,
The Reverend Mary A.
Jones has joined the Philadelphia Front Page News staff as a poetry writer
since the year 2009.
Mary A. Jones was
born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Graduating from West Philadelphia
High School, she continued her education at Lincoln University. After her
second year at one of the Historical Black Colleges, she accepted a job in the
field of technology. Excelling in the position of supervisor and computer
trainer in nine months, she decided to continue in the pursuit of her career in
the area of business management and technology. Ms. Jones has 32 years of
expertise ranging from Data Entry/Keypunch Operator to Training the Trainer, to
Product & Project Manager.
Mary was inspired by
her natural ability as a technical trainer and the love for what she was doing
to become an entrepreneur. Her endeavors as a Sole Proprietor moved her
into the challenge of being the Chief Executive Officer and Founder of two
businesses, both setup as a ministry in the communities; Point ‘N Click
Technology and the Bethesda Prayer Ministry a.k.a. the House of Mercy. As
sole proprietor Mary provided computer training, web site design, and desktop
publishing. Ms. Jones also founded MAJones – Community Development
Resource Center. The primary function of this non-profit organization is
to serve the neighboring communities in the area of literacy. The resource
center is also certified as a site for the Mayor's Commission on Literacy,
where Ms. Jones is an Adult Literacy Coordinator/Instructor; as well as a
mentoring organization in The Greater Philadelphia Mentoring Partnership at the
United Way of Southeastern Pennsylvania (Church Mentoring Network).
Mary was a business
partner with the African American Chamber of Commerce. As a member of the
Chamber, she was also on the Technology Task Force, a standing committee of the
Chamber. She was very instrumental in the development of the Chamber’s “Technology
Road Show”. Her efforts at the Chamber were directed towards
technological awareness and business development by conducting workshops at the
Chamber. Ms. Jones also served on the Computers and Technology
Stakeholders Partnership for the Philadelphia Public School System. As a
Stakeholder, she worked closely with other executives from other companies with
the task of ensuring that teachers, principles, and students are educated and
equipped with the necessary tools and knowledge in the area of computers and
technology. As a Stakeholder was a member of the Career Options Committee
for students and has been asked to sit on the Certification Committee.
Her latest endeavor
as a writer is providing technical tips at Point ‘N Click Technology’s
Online Tech Lab at the Philadelphia online Front Page News. The articles
are a good read and simple enough for those who may not be tech savvy to
understand and follow.
Today, Mary has become a free lance reporter for the
Philadelphia / Delaware County Front Page News newspaper, as well as the
internet radio station the POWER WVSR 1360.US.
